Funding options

This is available to anyone who has had an injury in New Zealand (including visitors). Your doctor, emergency service or hospital will provide you with an ACC claim number at the time of your injury treatment.

Depending on your injury, you may be eligible for post-injury support in your home, either via your MyACC log in or ACC Case Manager. If you work for an ACC Accredited Employer, they may be able to contract Healthvision directly.

Healthvision is contracted by ACC or accredited employers to provide free:

• Integrated Home & Community Support Services (Household support, personal care, serious injury, and long-term supports)

• Specialist burn and wound care nursing, including free in-home visits, dressing changes

• Training for Independence (Rehabilitation Programmes) for Traumatic Brain Injury, Adults with Other Injuries, Children and Young Persons

• Assessment Services

• Physiotherapy Services

Simply ask for Healthvision by name. We provide nationwide services either directly or via our highly qualified and selected Healthvision Alliance Members Care On Call, Good Partners, Frankton Park and Phoenix Healthcare Group.

This is available for citizens and permanent residents under the age of 65 years, and with a physical, intellectual and/or sensory impairment or disability that is:

• likely to continue for a minimum of 6 months

• reduces your ability to function independently, to the extent that ongoing support is required

• not caused by an injury. (This is typically ACC funded.)

In addition, a person with Autism Spectrum Disorder may also be eligible for a needs assessment. These are usually for people under the age of 65.

Disability support services for people with mental health needs or age-related needs are generally funded by District Health Boards.

The Ministry of Health funding is managed by one of 14 contracted Needs Assessment and Service Coordination services (NASCs). The NASC will work with disabled people, their family, whānau, aiga, or carers, to:

• identify their strengths and support needs

• outline what disability support services are available

• determine their eligibility for Ministry-funded support services.

Your NASC can help you access Healthvision Home and Community Supports, so that we can provide you with support for household tasks or personal cares. Simply ask for Healthvision by name.

IF is a form of Ministry of Health Disability Support funding that allows the person with a disability greater choice for how they can be supported. Funded supports typically include house hold supports, personal cares, respite services. The new Enabling Good Lives Programme is a further enhancement to this.

Under an IF arrangement, you have the option to employ and manage your own staff. Due to the legal complexities and strict rules regarding staff management (including Health and Safety, Pay Equity, Guaranteed Hours and Travel Payments), you may wish to ask for Healthvision's support to find, manage and train your staff.

To access Healthvision services, clients will need to contact an IF Host Agency, such as Manawanui in Charge or Lifewise. Simply ask for Healthvision by name.

EGL is a new approach to supporting disabled people that offers greater choice and control over the supports they receive, so that they can plan for the lives they want. Demonstration sites are underway in Canterbury, Manawatu and Waikato.

EGL funding may be used for a variety of things including supports in the local community, employing people to assist or using supports from a provider or agency such as Healthvision.

Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People fund for a broad range of hospital and community services, including home-based support for clients under 65 years of age. Your local Needs Assessment team will determine your eligibility or you can ask for support via your General Practitioner (GP).

Healthvision is contracted to provide Home and Community Support services (such as home support and personal care) for Counties Manukau Health in South Auckland. Equally, we provide ACC burn and wound care nursing services in the Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Waikato DHB regions. Simply ask for Healthvision by name.
